Recruiting 16 year olds into the Armed Forces - a waste of tax payers money?  Two human rights groups are calling for the 'outdated' practice of recruiting 16-year-olds into the Armed Forces to be stopped. The report cites the reason as 'a waste of tax payers money' because there is an extended training requirement; the drop-out rate is higher and they cannot engage in front-line activity until they are aged 18.
