3 RAF teams involved in Cairngorms rescue

A major search operation was launched over the weekend involving three mountain rescue teams from RAF Leeming, Leuchars and Kinloss. SAR teams and dogs were all involved in the operation to seach for a group of students from Leeds University who had not returned. RAF Kinloss has Gone...


RAF Kinloss has marked the end of an era as the stn was handed over to the Army and became Kinloss Barracks. The Army's 39 Engineer Regiment officially took over the unit, which has been home to the RAF since 1939. The day was marked with a short but poignant ceremony, which saw the RAF Ensign lowered for the last time as a Tornado aircraft flew overhead and the flag of 39 Engineer Regiment raised...More information »

The British Army is on the Move

The first Army unit moves has been confirmed by the MoD. 1,800 troops based in Germany will from Jan 12 be brought back to the UK. This includes troops moving into former RAF bases at Cottesmore and Kinloss and into Wittering.
