Increases in National Insurance - reports are misleading
It has been reported in the media that Armed Forces personnel will have
to pay more tax on their pensions as a result of changes to National
Insurance contributions. In response the MoD has said: "This story is
misleading. The 1.4% increase in National Insurance contributions
relates to the State Pension - it has nothing to do with the entirely

New Armed Forces Pension Scheme from Apr 15
A new Armed Forces Pension Scheme (currently referred to as Future AFPS) will be introduced from Apr 15. The MoD and HM Treasury have now reached agreement on the protection of accrued rights to Armed Forces Pension Scheme (AFPS) 75 and AFPS 05 pension benefits earned by Service personnel prior to enrolment in the new AFPS.
